![]() Agave on the trail to Makapu'u Point This image is a close-up of a succulent growing on volcanic rock along the path to the point. The agave caught my eye because of the round swurl of leaves and the rich colors of the plant against the dark rock. Perhaps I have an over-active imagination, but the shape of the leaves reminded me of mythical wild-eyed sea creatures with tentacles flailing, as depicted in paintings from centuries gone by.
