![]() Trees at Byodo-In Temple The Byodo-In Temple sits between the steep sides of the Ko'olau Mountains behind it and a long narrow pond in front of the temple. The bell (posted yesterday) sits at one end of the pond; these trees, among others, stand at the other end. Their bark is very smooth in some places and looks like peeling paper at others. It is a silver gray color. Branches have a tendency to gnarl. A stone path, edged with bamboo, winds its way between the trees. The grounds around the temple have many different species of trees.
