Rugged Terrain

The Ko'olau Mountains are known for their steep cliffs and valleys all along the north face. This photo was made of the mountains near Makapu'u Point, looking towards the Pali, but similar sites can be seen more or less all along the north side of the range. Some of the valleys are inhabited. Others are not. At least several (and probably more) movies have been filmed, at least in part, with the scenic cliffs as background for the movie sets.
