Caught in a Sunny Shower

I read an interesting post at Chantal's web site today. I got there by reading a comment that Pete made on my page yesterday about my crop. (I flipped over to Pete's site to see how he cropped images and learned that he liked Chantal's comment, so I clicked over to her site...and that's how it goes sometimes.)

Chantal was talking about why people look at photoblogs and a lot of people have commented on her site. All of this is to bring up some of the reasons I like to look at others' sites...I learn from them...I get ideas from them...sometimes it's just plain fun to visit...I see things I don't like and try to decide what it is that I don't like about them so I don't do the same thing. I have borrowed ideas from AG, (photo)blogging Sil, Sabinche, Steve Paxton, David and Sue's roadtonowhere, faustina's my-world and virtually everyone on my links list. That's why they are on the list...I like to go back and see what they are doing and I like clicking a link to get there. I don't always leave a comment, but often I do. I also check the sites of everyone who leaves comments on my site (there are others I need to add to my link list so I can go back easily); their comments are often how I discover their sites in the first place.

Which brings me to the photo I posted today. This is not the first time I have used this flower in a photograph (See the first time here)and perhaps not even the better of the two images. This time I reversed it horizontally. And then I tried somthing new (for me); I read up on blending mode and blended the flower photo with a photo of some tree bark to make this image. This is my first attempt at blending. I got the idea from some fine work done by Jetty (I am not sure whether Jetty was using blending mode or whether it was a reflection, but I wouldn't have looked into blending without Jetty's inspiration. See also here). Which just goes to show you what Chantal was talking about. ...And that is why they sometimes call it a photoblogging 'community'.
