leaf macro

Leaf Macro

One of the things I like best about tropical plants is the large scale of many of them. This leaf is two feet wide and three feet long, perhaps a bit larger. I made the image by positioning the sun behind it so the translucent light would show off the wonderful detail and colors of the leaf. I was about a foot away from the leaf and used the kit lens. It's pretty easy to get a 'macro' shot when the subject matter is so large.

ISO 400, 1/60s, f/5.6, 55mm of 18-55mm
