cannonball flower

Flower of the Cannonball Tree

This is the final image from last weekend's photo shoot at Foster's Botanical Garden in Honolulu. It is another bloom from the Cannonball Tree, this time looking at the side of the flower. In the background you can see thorny vines dangling. What is not as clear is that the entire trunk of the tree, some 30 or 40 feet is covered with these thorny vines, with flowers growing from them. The leaves of the tree are above all of this, with a high canopy. It is a most unusual tree with very unique flowers.

I hope you have enjoyed this excursion to the botanical garden. My next post will move on to other subjects.
