![]() In Downtown Hawi The next day we followed roads north along the Kawaihae Coast to the tip of the Big Island. As we rounded the northwestern tip of the island, we passed through Hawi, a sleepy little town that looks like it hasn't changed much in 50 to 70 years. The buildings in this image are located in the center of town, but to be fair these are clearly in worse shape than any other buildings in town. The others are maintained well enough, but come from the same era so they are similarly styled. On the corner where this photo was made is a small vegetable and fruit stand. We bought some oranges that were about as juicy and delicious as any I can remember eating. After a brief visit to Hawi we turned south along Kohala Mountain Road and began our journey along the ridge line of Kohala Mountain. ISO 100, 1/100s, f/14.0, 55mm of 18-55mm | |
