lava tube

Lava Tube

As the name implies, this cylindrical passageway was formed by molten lava that passed through it and ultimately left it behind. The scale of the tube is evident from the size of the people in the background. The tube was perhaps 50 yards long. This barren tube is located in a very dense tropical rain forest and lies perhaps 20 - 30 feet below ground.
