![]() Lion Dance Saturday is New Year's Eve for the Chinese New Year. Honolulu's Chinatown celebrated this weekend with fireworks, food and Lion Dances. Several streets in Chinatown are blocked off to permit celebrations in the streets. At the Chinese Cultural Plaza, performers such as these men perform Lion Dances on stage, jumping from one platform to another to the beat of drums, followed by visits from dragons that weave around the lion and, ultimately, into the crowd of onlookers. I joined some friends and new acquaintances for a many-course meal prior to this exhibition. Tomorrow I will post an even more hazardous Lion Dance in honor of the New Year.
