statue

Sculpture

This photo is an important one for me, not because of the subject matter or processing. I've used the statue before and the processing is nothing out of the ordinary. It is important because this is the first photo I have displayed using my new ultrasharp flat panel monitor (instead of my laptop monitor). I've always known that laptop computers were not particularly good for this application, but never did I realize how much of a difference it makes to actually be able to see the details so precisely (right down to the crack in the back of the statue's neck). I've looked over some of the images on this site (all of them processed with a laptop monitor) and for the first time I am seeing all sorts of defects or inadequacies in some of them. It's like having bad eyesight and, for the first time, getting prescription glasses. So this is an important image. I can finally see all the details clearly. I hope to post better images in the future. By the way, the dark specks are not sensor dust...just part of the statue. (The new monitor is hooked up to a backup computer I own. It sure is fun to get new toys. Now I need to calibrate the colors - on this monitor my blog background color is light green...on my laptop it was light brown. How do you see it?)
