jetting into the sunset

Jetting into the Sunset

Late afternoon and early evening are popular times of the day to fly out of Honolulu if your destination is the mainland - especially if you are flying all night to the east coast. In this photograph made earlier this week I caught an airplane jetting into the sunset, shortly before it turned and headed for California and points east on the mainland. It was a brilliant sky and made the airplane a small silhouette heading into the sun. If you've ever flown that flight you know that the sun doesn't last long once you've turned eastward. This image was made from the lanai at my home. I never tire of sunsets (I made 42 shots of this one - isn't digital wonderful) so here is another one. I may post one or two more in the coming days as the sky was brilliant that evening.
